Our approach
Why we started
Many of us grew up surrounded by our traditions: the morning lamp, the festival rush, grandparents’ stories at bedtime. We absorbed the what without always being told the why.
Now our children are asking: Why do we break a coconut? Why are there so many gods? Why do we touch Grandpa’s feet? They’re growing up in classrooms, cities and countries where those questions don’t come with ready answers, and in a world where attention is measured in seconds.
Hinduism One exists to give families those answers in the time they actually have: one minute a day.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: the world is one family. (Mahā Upaniṣad 6.71)
What we make
- Why do we…? Simple, honest answers to the questions children ask, each with a 60-second version for kids and a deeper explanation for parents.
- Daily verse. One Bhagavad Gita verse a day: the Sanskrit, our own plain-English translation, and one way to live it today.
- Bedtime stories. Timeless tales from the Panchatantra and beyond, retold for ages 5–10, each with the lesson and questions to talk about.
How we write
Simple first. Every answer begins with something a five-year-old can follow, then goes deeper for adults.
Rooted in the texts. We write in our own words from the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, epics and Puranas, and name our sources on every page.
One family. Practices vary from home to home, region to region, tradition to tradition. We honour them all, rank none, and stay out of debates and politics.
Love, not fear. We explain meaning and beauty. We never use guilt, superstition or “bad luck” to persuade.
Honest about what’s tradition. When a meaning comes from popular teaching rather than a specific scripture, we say so.
Who we are
Hinduism One is a small, independent project made by people who love their tradition and want to pass it on. We’re not a temple, guru or organisation, and we don’t speak for any of them. We write carefully, name our sources on every page, and correct things whenever readers point something out.
Share it forward
If something here helped, the best thing you can do is share it with one family. Every page has a WhatsApp button for exactly that.
